Dinner at Rasa Ria Kozan Teppan-yaki

Few months back, we went for a dinner at Rasa Ria Resort Kozan Teppan-yaki. Yes this blog is a bit late. My brother complimented Hyatt for their good teppanyaki. We found out that Rasa Ria Resort also provide teppanyaki dining, thus decided to give it a try.

Ambience :Cozy and Elegant
Food Taste : 8 / 10
Waiting Time : Fast
Price : Expensive

We ordered Kozan and Akita ( http://www.shangri-la.com/kotakinabalu/rasariaresort/dining/restaurants/kozan-teppan-yaki/menu-wine/ ) you can check out the menu in their webpage. They even have recipes!!!

Appetizer

They served very fresh sashimi and the bean really tasty. The saltiness of bean's skin was up to my liking. Could not stop eating this dish.

Next came the oyster. They cooked them with onion and beef bacon / maybe chicken ham (can't remember well). But I do know this dish really good. You must have this. Eating just bacon and onion were good enough, when they topped it on the cooked fresh oyster, it looks so inviting. Yum... each bite of the oyster blend well with the bacon and onion, juicy, sweet, salty yummy to the max

We also ordered fish (but cant remember what kind of fish was this). Nothing to shout about.

Next the Prawn. I love prawn, tasted great as it was very fresh. You can get almost the same taste in the other hotel though.

Next come the duck foie gras. I did not eat this cause dislike eating liver. So not so sure on the taste.

Next they served us chicken. The sauce perfectly sweet, the chicken is tender and blend well with the sauce. Most importantly, I could not stop munching the fried garlic. I actually requested for more.

What I like to see at the teppanyaki counter is the fire on the pan.... look at the above, they cook the beef and TADA!!! Beef, my bro's favourite. He said this dish is perfect. Compatible with Hyatt's beef. I did not taste this dish too so unable to comment much.

They also served us beef roll with enoki mushroom. I love this dish too. The beef was thinly cut and cooked to perfection. Roll with enoki mushroom. It had slight crunchiness due to the enoki mushroom, the beef has some sweetness.

They served us some vegetable, you can get the same taste at any restaurant.

We also ordered the sushi, they do not serve sushi in their menu. However, due to our special request (we insisted they make for us), the Chef made it. After eating it, I guess I know why they do not serve sushi (the rice they used to served us did not taste the same as the normal sushi), not really a good sushi though.

They also served us the fried rice. I was too full to eat this. However, after tasting a few bites, I can say that this fried rice was delicious. It had the "wok hei". I could not stop eating after that and finished the whole bowl eventhough I was so full.

Our final dish... dessert., Ice cream pancake. SLURP. This ending was too good. Hot and Crispy outside, Cold and sweet inside. GOOD COMBINATION. I am coming back for this one!!!!

Maggi Magic Meal - Kicap Ayam (Soy sauce chicken)

I got myself a free sample of Maggi Magic Meal - Soy Sauce Chicken (Kicap Ayam). I just love to eat the kicap ayam that cooked by Malay, however, it is tedious to do it. I saw Maggi giving out sample on this with such easy cooking steps, it stated there, cut meat, mix with the Maggi stock, put it with steamed rice and wait for 45 minutes. It shall be ready to be eaten by then.

Ingredients:
500g of cut chicken ( it stated there the chicken shall be skinless, however, I did not do so and I used more than 1/2 kg)
1/2 onion (cut into rings)
1/2 cup of water

In the Maggi Magic Meal has the plastic, plastic band and stock.

Instead of putting the chicken into the plastic and cooked, I put it into a plates, mix it with the stock, onion, water and marinate it in the fridge for at least 3 hours.

After that, I put the plates of chicken onto the rice cooker and cooked together with the rice (I cooked the rice and chicken for 45 minutes).

Tada!!! The chicken smell good. The taste is ok not bad for such easy cooking. It might taste better if I did not put in any water since I marinated it.

We did not manage to finish the dish. The next day, my mom used the leftover to cook another dish. You can used claypot, but my mom used rice cooker. Steamed the rice, right after it is cooked, put in the leftover including its gravy into the rice and mix it. Let it sit in the rice awhile. You can add in chinese sausages, salted fish and others..... Claypot chicken rice.... So yummy.

Thanks Maggi for giving me a chance to make a quick, simple meals of Kicap Ayam and Claypot Chicken Rice :P

Not-so-Italian-style-LASAGNA

My Sis in law made lasagna for us few days ago. It was delicious and did not left a greasy feeling after eating as she used more vegetable instead of meat as the filing.

Ingrediants:
1 pack of Lasagna sheet
1 can of tomato paste
200g of meat (any minced meat, in actual fact, we should use more meat however we did not)
3 sausages (since we are not having lots of meats, we add in sausages)
3 tomatoes
2 cucumbers
1 carrot
1/2 onion
5 cloves of garlics
Pepper & Salt (Best add in oregano and thyme leaves)

Butter
one pack of sliced mozzarella cheese

one pack of sliced cheddar cheese

1) Take out the lasagna sheet and soak it in a water for few hours (she left it for 6 hours), so the sheets will be soft easier and lesser the cooking time.

2) Diced the sausages, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, onion and garlic.

3) Heat up generous amount of butter. Put in onion and garlic. Do not mix so much.Let it sits and shimmer, until they were soft and quite dry.

4) Put in carrot and cook it awhile, until it is nearly soft.

5) Add in other ingredients and stir it. Let it sits and shimmer till the ingredients are dry.

6) Add in the tomato paste and stir it. Seasoned with pepper and salt (if you have oregano and / or thyme leaves). Let the sauce dried up a bit.

7) Use kitchen rolls to pat dry the lasagna sheet.

8) Arrange the lasagna into a casserole. First, add in some cooked item, then placed the sliced cheese lastly placed the lasagna sheets. Repeat and ended with only cheese on top.

9) Preheat the oven to 180 degree for fifteen minutes. Bake the lasagna for half hour.

10) TADA!!!! YUMMY!!! However, I suggest to use more of shredder cheddar cheese and sufficient amount of shredder mozzarella cheese. It might have a better taste and look.

It's so simple. Happy Trying! Slurp!

Dessert at Lucky Bean

I brought my family to have some dessert at Lucky Bean few days back. A great dessert session in a hot afternoon.

Ambience :Cozy and Nice
Food Taste : 8 / 10 (I love the grass jelly and the bread)
Waiting Time : Fast
Price : OK.

We ordered cold and hot dessert. We also had some food. The dessert and food were tasty, I shall return again.

The decoration was cute at the counter.

This were the cold dessert. Grass jelly and Signature grass jelly dessert. Since I love the jelly grass, I ordered the one with only jelly grass.  I dislike eating too much chewy stuff. However, the red bean is not bad either.

We also ordered the tauhu fah and red bean (hot dessert). The tauhu fah was so smooth and silky. This dessert was not too sweet. It seems to be a healthy kind of dessert.

Next came the butter garlic bread. Wow... I cant stop eating this. They put generous amount of garlic butter. The bread was crispy on the top and side but so soft inside. Melt........

We also ordered the egg waffle. It was quite sweet to my taste. The egg taste was strong, I expected it to be really buttery or cheesy, however to my dissappointment, not much butter or cheese were being used. I still prefer to bread.

You should go to Lucky Bean for the smooth silky grass jelly, tauhu fah and the bread. Yum yum.
