Guddo Japanese Restaurant

Yesterday, we went to a newly open Japanese restaurant situated in Metro Town.

Ambience : Comfortable, not so noisy and love the seat.
Food Taste : 6.5 / 10 (the taste is so so but it food is fresh)
Waiting Time : Fast
Price : Slightly high for such portion

We try out the food via groupon. However we are told that all the set menu having 15% discount. Thus we ordered the only noodles set menu and others were groupon paid food.

This is salmon bento. The sashimi is very fresh but what I love most is the salad. I am not a fan of veggie, however, this salad is too good for me to resist. Aside that the fried rice is hot until the last bite as it was served in a hot pot.

The lemon tea is too sweet though. It tasted nice only after we added one cup of hot water

We had a 15% off this RM18 bento. This is the only bento with noodles. The noodles portion is too small though. It is suitable for those who eat less.

The food is so so but the environment is good.

Dinner at Rasa Ria Kozan Teppan-yaki

Few months back, we went for a dinner at Rasa Ria Resort Kozan Teppan-yaki. Yes this blog is a bit late. My brother complimented Hyatt for their good teppanyaki. We found out that Rasa Ria Resort also provide teppanyaki dining, thus decided to give it a try.

Ambience :Cozy and Elegant
Food Taste : 8 / 10
Waiting Time : Fast
Price : Expensive

We ordered Kozan and Akita ( http://www.shangri-la.com/kotakinabalu/rasariaresort/dining/restaurants/kozan-teppan-yaki/menu-wine/ ) you can check out the menu in their webpage. They even have recipes!!!

Appetizer

They served very fresh sashimi and the bean really tasty. The saltiness of bean's skin was up to my liking. Could not stop eating this dish.

Next came the oyster. They cooked them with onion and beef bacon / maybe chicken ham (can't remember well). But I do know this dish really good. You must have this. Eating just bacon and onion were good enough, when they topped it on the cooked fresh oyster, it looks so inviting. Yum... each bite of the oyster blend well with the bacon and onion, juicy, sweet, salty yummy to the max

We also ordered fish (but cant remember what kind of fish was this). Nothing to shout about.

Next the Prawn. I love prawn, tasted great as it was very fresh. You can get almost the same taste in the other hotel though.

Next come the duck foie gras. I did not eat this cause dislike eating liver. So not so sure on the taste.

Next they served us chicken. The sauce perfectly sweet, the chicken is tender and blend well with the sauce. Most importantly, I could not stop munching the fried garlic. I actually requested for more.

What I like to see at the teppanyaki counter is the fire on the pan.... look at the above, they cook the beef and TADA!!! Beef, my bro's favourite. He said this dish is perfect. Compatible with Hyatt's beef. I did not taste this dish too so unable to comment much.

They also served us beef roll with enoki mushroom. I love this dish too. The beef was thinly cut and cooked to perfection. Roll with enoki mushroom. It had slight crunchiness due to the enoki mushroom, the beef has some sweetness.

They served us some vegetable, you can get the same taste at any restaurant.

We also ordered the sushi, they do not serve sushi in their menu. However, due to our special request (we insisted they make for us), the Chef made it. After eating it, I guess I know why they do not serve sushi (the rice they used to served us did not taste the same as the normal sushi), not really a good sushi though.

They also served us the fried rice. I was too full to eat this. However, after tasting a few bites, I can say that this fried rice was delicious. It had the "wok hei". I could not stop eating after that and finished the whole bowl eventhough I was so full.

Our final dish... dessert., Ice cream pancake. SLURP. This ending was too good. Hot and Crispy outside, Cold and sweet inside. GOOD COMBINATION. I am coming back for this one!!!!

Japanese Lunch at Miso

I  had been invited to have a great lunch at Miso last Friday. My friends love to sit in the room provided, which to me, although it has privacy but i find it hard to sit and stand (we have to sit on the floor, however, there is a big hole below the table for you to put your legs down).

Ambience : Cozy
Food Taste : 7 / 10
Waiting Time : Fast
Price : Medium price for Japanese Food

The first dish out was karaage tempura. A must order by me, where each time I will specially request additional radish to mix with the sauce. Daddy taught me to put lots of radish into the sauce. It is much more refreshing, will not feel greasy eating the deep fried stuff after dipping with it.

Next came the ebi maki, main ingredient was the huge prawn. Look at the picture below, that is just the tail of it. I just love the seafood in my state. Really succulent and fresh. Back to the maki, all of them were huge. Bigger than the one that you get in most Japanese restaurant in town.

Not long, my friend was served with her order, sashimi bento set (not so sure of the real name for the bento). It had prickles, steamed eggs, rice, miso soup, salshimi : salmon, tuna and butterfish, sushi : tuna, salmon, octopus and prawn, mashed potatoes and salad.  This friend of mine love to eat this set  of bento. She always order this.

Another dish served right after the sashimi bento.... Unagi don served with miso soup my order. The sauce was great. Sweet and was great with the unagi. However, the piece was slightly small and was not grilled up to my liking. I preferred it to be grilled or cooked longer.

This is futumaki, also my friend's a must to have. It seems like all the maki are slightly bigger in this restaurant. Nothing to shout about though aside from the size.

Next was the sashimi don. It had the wow effect on me. I should have ordered this. The restaurant served a generous amount of sashimi, much worth it than my unagi don.

The last dish out was the tori maki, main ingredient were deep fried chicken. It was delicious, the chicken were crispy still but the meat itself were juicy. Yum yum.

The above was the sushi that I had aside from my unagi don (pat pat tummy) !!
