Patrick's Signature

We bought a groupon coupon which give discounted meal at Patrick's Signature. It seems to be a good deal according to my mom. We went there weeks ago (only now I have the chance to upload this, sorry for the delay).

First dish out was the salmon. It was sashimi kind, mixed with lemon or "kit chai", chillies and basil leave. It was very refreshing and tasty. This was a very very good dish. Next was the pork belly (it was stewed). It tasted just like a home cooked dish that my mom always made. however, the meat was quite fat to my liking. Another dish that was served was the snapper. I forgot the name of the dish however the gravy was very delicious and spicy. My brother like it though.

The vegetable that was served was the kailan with oyster sauce and there is nothing to shout about. Our Next favourite was the steamed chicken. It was very good. The meat was succulent. The timing of the steamed chicken was just right.

We shall be coming back for more. :)

We also ordered the garlic fried rice. This dish was good too. It was paired with deep fried chicken cutlet (cooked with tangy sauce), a sausage, an egg and cucumber. The rice was very fragrant and tasty. The rice textures was just right where it was not too soggy nor hard.

Tea Time Cafe in karamunsing

My friend and I went to Tea Time Cafe (serve no pork) at Karamunsing, located next to McDonald, opposite a shop selling golf accessories.

Ambience : comfortable and slightly noisy
Food Taste : 7 / 10
Waiting Time : Fast
Price : Moderate

The food tasted quite good and the price is reasonable.

This cucur vegetable was crunchy. I love to have this a lot and saw many tables ordered this. It cost only RM1.50 per big piece. I could not stop munching this.

I ordered the mix fish ball noddles. The soup is flavourful, with tomatoes and salty veggie. The fish balls and paste tasted quite good. However, I dun really favour their kon lau mee. They used light soy sauce and garlic oil to mix it. The noodles were slightly soggy to me.

Lunch at Lucy's Kitchen, Secret Recipe, KFC and RCH

I also went to a few Halal and serve no pork restaurant for lunch.

1) Lucy's Kitchen at 88 Marketplace

I read a few blogs about this cafe. Heard at they served a very delicious food and good dessert. So I gave it a try.

I ordered the lamb with rice. Nothing to shout about actually. The lamb were tender. However, I can get such dish at a bigger portion in other place.

I also ordered the durian pancake. I heard it is a hit in that cafe. It was indeed very yummy. I can eat the cold, sweet flesh. The pancake's thickness is just right. I reckon you must get this although the price is slightly high.

2) Secret Recipe at Citymall

It has been ages since I eaten in Secret Recipe. So I took the chance last week to have lunch there. Although the it was famous for its cakes and pastries, we did not order those.

The first dish was the spring roll. Crispy outside, juicy inside. Savory taste just good for me. The portion was too little for me though.

Next came the Laksa Singapore. Since I did not eat it, I do not know the taste. However, it was mixed with santan which is not suppose to, according to my sis inlaw. The serving looked big though and she said the taste was ok.

Mine, the grilled chicken chop with rice. I love my food. The rice was very fragrant, the corn was sweet and not too soft. The chicken was tender and I love the thigh part. I love chicken with mushroom sauce. Definitely coming back for more.

3) Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) at Karamunsing

I am craving for fast food the other day. Thus, my friend and I decided to head to KFC for lunch. I ordered the dish with rice. Had the mixture of both original and hot & spicy chicken. I requested the drumstick and thigh. Yummy. The rice was tasty, butter-ry taste. I do not like the soup though, too much MSG and the chicken ball are not springy. I like springy balls.

4) RCH at Karamunsing

I had a take-away with my friend from RCH. I ordered lemon chicken. The chicken were fried with flour and the outer part were crispy and inside were tender. The gravy were sour and sweet, the tangy taste really good when mix with chicken and the fragrant rice. They also serve some pickled with it. The chilly sauce also good. Not too hot. I love this dish a lot.

Non-Halal Lunch at Foh Chuan, Xiang2 Pan Mien & Chub Grill

Been to a few places for lunch recently. These are the good places that you guys should try next time.

1) Foh Chuan at Bundusan, Penampang.

This restaurant is very famous for their stir fried choy sum, ham choy, roast meat and other dishes. My mom suggested me to try for the Ham Choy Mee Hoon (Stir Fried Vermicelli with salted veggie). We order RM10 and sufficient for 3 ladies. It has generous amount of tauhu, salted veggie and meat (roasted meat and sitr fried meat).

It was super delicious. Taste sour-sweet and has the slight saltiness. Roast meat were crunchy and not fatty. The noodles has the pork lard taste. they might be cooking it with pork lard. Yummy to the MAX!!

We also ordered kon lau meehoon kosong (Vermicelli mix with soy sauce) only at RM2. The meehoon were not only mix with soy sauce but also pork lard. This was tasty. I can finish the whole plate without any meat. Just the noodle itself is good enough.

2) Xiang Xiang Pan Mien, Damai

This restaurant selling flat flour noodles. They let us choose three kind of noodles; flat shape, round shape and hand-pulled shape. Those noodles can be cooked in a soup broth or in a dried sauce (kon lau).

I ordered the flat shape in soup broth. It was served with deep fried anchovies, minced pork, mushrooms, sayur manis and deep fried wan tan. The soup was tasty, it had slight saltiness. I put in some lime and it had slight sour-vary taste. The mixture of the meat and veggie were delicious and crunchy while the noodles are not springy.

I also ordered a leafy juice (xiao mai chau). Very refreshing and cooling.

3) Chub Grill, Karamunsing Capital

This restaurant are famous for its grilled food. I always loved their grilled chicken and lamb. The meat is marinated well, it is juicy, tender and one can taste the marinate even to the bone ..... slurp :P

I ordered the chicken while my friend order pork. Both meat are up to my expectation. However, the side dishes are nothing to shout about.

Definitely come back for more!

Kenny Rogers (Groupon) at One Borneo

My brother bought 2 coupons from Groupon on Kenny Rogers's offer. It is only available in One Borneo, so we headed there during the holidays for a dinner.

Ambience : hectic and noisy (they don't seem to have enough staffs during that night)
Food Taste : so so (muffin were good, Mac and cheese was bad) 6/10
Price : cheap as we bought from Groupon (RM 88 for 4 ppl)
Waiting time : fast

We ordered our muffin, five type of flavours, banana, vanilla, mocha, pandan and orange. They were good, very aromatic, slightly crunchy on the top and moist inside. You can taste the exact flavour at every bite of the muffin, in which, the flavour getting stronger towards the bottom of the muffin.

Next, we were served with mushroom soup. To me, It tasted better than Pizza Hut as it was thicker, creamier and I can still bite some big mushroom. The presentation of the soup was also way better. We had eight bowls of it as we were using 2 coupons at one go.

I guess the restaurant having limited staffs as our drink came only after the soup and so as the utensil.

We were then served with two birds with two kind of gravy that we requested, black pepper and mushroom sauce. The sauce was a good compliment to the chicken which to me, not so juicy. I love mushroom sauce, I got a few pieces of mushroom here n there :)

They continue to serve us our dishes which my brother had paid earlier. Came were the sausages and fish balls (2 bowls each) and our side dishes. The cocktail sausages were mixed with tomato paste, while the not so springy ball, tasted good when I mix it with my mushroom sauce (they were mixed with tomato paste too but not as much as the sausages.)

We ordered 3 bowls of rice, at first my brother though it was a small size. It came out to be a medium size, way too much for us. However, the fragrant rice were delicious. Tasted like the chicken rice, very butter-ry too.

We also had two bowls of coleslaw. It was quite creamy n and slight sweetness in the sauce. I preferred this coleslaw compared to KFC. I could chew the creamy crunchy cabbages.

We ordered corn and carrot for my dad. He loves it as it was not a heavy dish. Next came our two bowls of macaroni and cheese. Was a Big Dissappointment. Years ago, Kenny's Roger served one of the best Mac and cheese. However, this time round, it was tasteless. To me, the cheese seems to be mixed with too much water. No butter taste. One bite, turn all of us off. We decided to take away the dish and add more cheese into it.

We end our meals with 8 bowls of ice creams. They gave us only vanilla flavour. The ice cream were too sweet, anyway, we were too full to enjoy the dessert.

Overall, it was a good meal. Will come back for more but definitely not the Mac and cheese.
