Yam Rice

Out of the sudden, I wanted to cook yam rice. Never done this before, so I decided to give it a try.
The ingrediant are:-
yam (1/2 small size diced into bite size)
Pork belly (one long piece - cut into bite size)
Chinese Sausages (2)
a handful of dried prawn (cut it into smaller pieces)
3 pieces of Shitake mushroom (cut into thin slices),
4 onions (diced)
2 garlics (diced)
White long grain (3 cups)
Dark soy sauce
sweet dark sauce
soy sauce
Salt
Pepper
oil

1) marinate the pork with some salt and pepper (for 2 hours)
2) wash the grain and put aside
3) put some oil into the wok and heat it up
4) with small fire, fried the onion then garlic till crispy (make sure not burnt)
5) add in the pork and fried till it is nearly cooked
6) put in sausages, dried prawn, mushroom and yam, add in salt and pepper.
7) after frying till it is cooked, put in the grain and stir it. add in the Dark soy sauce, soy sauce, sweet soy sauce (all to taste). I like it not so sweet so my portion of the sauce was 3:2:1/2 (all using chinese soup spoon)
8) after frying, put the food into the rice cooker and add in sufficient water (like normally how you cooked the rice, I put in additional of  a quarter more water compared to the normal cooking).
9) The rice turn out to be perfect!

Patrick's Signature

We bought a groupon coupon which give discounted meal at Patrick's Signature. It seems to be a good deal according to my mom. We went there weeks ago (only now I have the chance to upload this, sorry for the delay).

First dish out was the salmon. It was sashimi kind, mixed with lemon or "kit chai", chillies and basil leave. It was very refreshing and tasty. This was a very very good dish. Next was the pork belly (it was stewed). It tasted just like a home cooked dish that my mom always made. however, the meat was quite fat to my liking. Another dish that was served was the snapper. I forgot the name of the dish however the gravy was very delicious and spicy. My brother like it though.

The vegetable that was served was the kailan with oyster sauce and there is nothing to shout about. Our Next favourite was the steamed chicken. It was very good. The meat was succulent. The timing of the steamed chicken was just right.

We shall be coming back for more. :)

Lido Food Court

I miss eating at Lido market so much. I heard there are a lot of new stalls being set up, thus, decided to eat there tonight. I saw the famous Sandakan UFO Tart. I bought a packet to try it out. It was slightly different from the normal tart. I dun really like it as it is very sweet, however, a good try though.

I also give a try on its dumpling and it is not bad. I still prefer the one in Damai
.

I saw a lot of people ordering the bak kut teh. Can't help myself ordering it. It was not as good as I expected. The peppery taste is not that strong.

The only food that will attract me back to Lido Market is the bbq Lamb. I got the rib part. The meat was moist and juicy. Even the gravy goes so well with the meat. I bought it again right after finishing the first purchase. It is the best ever Lamb!!!

Dinner at Din Tai Fung, The Gardens Mall

My Boss brought me to Din Tai Fung for a dinner. It was located at The Gardens Mall Mid Valley City, Kuala Lumpur. It is originated from Taiwan. When we reached, the place was nearly full. I saw that the tables are arranged close to each other maximising the space. The food looked delicious through the pictures with pricing that is reasonable according to the location of the shop.

Condiments
We ordered a cold dish, Shanghainese Drunken Chicken. This is cooked with Chinese wine, and the meat is tender. I even drink up the gravy. Way too good, definitely will recommend to others. We also ordered the prawn cake. I felt slightly oily after eating the whole lot, however, it is a delicious dish.

Although only two of us, we decided to order more as the food look too tasty. We heard that this shop is famous for its dumpling, thus we ordered the basket of Xiao Long Bao. It is nothing to shout about as I tried a better one in Shanghai before.

The other dish that I recommend a must to try is the pumpkin cooked with salted egg yolk. Wow... it is so delicious that I stop talking just to enjoy this dish. The outer part is crispy and courted with salted egg yolk. Inner side which is pumpkin strip is soft and sweet.

I shall be visiting this shop everytime I go KL!!!!

Dinner at Mosaic, Hyatt

My Sis inlaw's dad invited us to a dinner at Mosaic, Hyatt, Kota Kinabalu. It was quite a good dinner but of cause pricy. What I love the most is the ice cream, especially the chocolate ice cream, creamy and not that sweet. I ordered the salmon, nothing to shout about though. But I would like to try their wagyu beed burger next time.

They served us bread as a starter. I believe the bread were lightly toasted and they served it with butter. Next came the Wagyu burger, however, I did not manage to eat it.

I ordered vanilla milkshake but it was bland. Does not worth the money though.
The Salmon were grilled way too dry. I do like their side dishes though. The portion is just right.

Another order made were the steak and pizza. I did not try the beef but I love the pizza. It has generous amount of cheese and pineapple. The crust was thin and crispy.

They have a great selection of ice cream. There were pistachio, peppermint, green tea and others. What I love the most is Chocolate. It was not sweet at all and creamy.
