Stuffed Egg Tofu

Mom bought 3 packs of Egg Tofu(Here, we called it Japanese Tauhu). We wanted to make the pan fried tofu but I got another idea, make "stuffed" tofu. However, due to its softness, we are unable to "stuffed" it, so it is being topped on the tofu.

Ingrediant:-
Minced Meat
(1/3) Pork / Chicken / Prawn
(2/3) Fish fillet (my mom said she got me the "tofu fish" not sure what is type of fish is that in english)
Salt
Pepper
Chinese wine (mou kui lo)
1egg
Sesame oil
Cornflour

Others
4 Small Red Onion
1 Shiitake Mushroom
1 Spring Onion

Gravy
4 tablespoon of Hoisin sauce
11/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce
3tablespoon of light soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoon of chinese wine
1 1/2 sesame oil
some water
Garlic
2 Shiitake Mushroom
An inch of ginger.

1) minced the pork. I like to mince it using knife, to control the sizes of the meat.
2) minced the fish by mixing some salt n corn flour. This one I used my hand. After it is minced, I 'throw' the fish paste a few times into the bowl to make it springy.
3) minced both pork n fish using knife.
4) put it into a bowl and add in some salt, pepper, Chinese wine. Put into the fridge.
5) cut onion and deep fried it using low fire (keep the oil). Diced one mushroom and spring onion.
6) mix deep fried onion, mushroom, spring onion, egg and sesame oil to the meat mixture. Marinate it in the fridge for at least four hours.
7) After four hours, cute the tofu  to at least one to one n half inch in height. Arrange nicely on a steaming pan.
8) take out the meat from the fridge. Arrange the meat unto the tofu. I used tea spoons to scoop and arranged on the tofu.
9) steam them between 18 to 20 mins.
10)minced the garlic and ginger. sliced the mushroom. Prepare the sauce in a bowl by mixing hoisin sauce, soy sauce, wine, sesame oil. Add in water n check the taste. Put in more sauce if you think it is insufficient.
11) for the tofu and meat, throw out the water from the pan after steaming, be careful not to drop the tofu n meat.
12) Heat up the wok, using the onion oil, fried garlic, put in ginger after the garlic aroma is out. Then mushroom. Once the good aroma can be smelled, put in all the sauce. After a few stirs, put in some corn flour to thicken it.
13) after cooked, pour it unto the steamed tofu and meat. Served.

Pancake House, Karamunsing

Last Friday, my friends and I decided to have lunch at Pancake House, Karamunsing. It is now having a promotion for buka puasa. The promotion is available even during lunch. The price was reasonable.

I ordered the Fried Chicken set where it included fried chicken, dates, air bandung and pancake. Only need to add extra a Ringgit or so to the original price.

My friends ordered soup and salad (this is not included in the promotion). Below is the soup, she said the picture and the actual soup look different as she could not find the asparagus as shown in the picture.

This is Tuna Macaroni Salad. It was just handful but the taste was quite delicious. It wont be enough for me alone though :P

This is my order. Fried chicken. It was drumstick and thigh, served with rice and eggs. I could not remember if the rice was fragrant or the white rice. It was topped with egg and special sauce. The chicken were not salty, which I think they had to be dipped into the sauce. The sauce was very very yummy. I could not describe in words though (salty and the smell is good). My dessert, which is the small pancake with marjerin / butter.

Another friend of mine ordered another type of salad, it has taco, chicken, cheese, veggie, kidney bean and more. I would prefer this compared to the tuna salad. However, the sauce given were too little. We requested for more and they were happy to provide more to us.

Another dish out is the pancake with ice cream. It looked so beautiful and inviting. I did not tried it out so could not comment much. However, all my friends that tasted it said not bad and will come back for more.

We also ordered some cakes from a colleague, Chocolate Moist. It was so moist and fill up with lots of chocolates. The sweetness was just right. Cost only RM2.00. So cheap. Best to make it as a door gift. Yummy.

King Fu Restaurant

This restaurant has been here for a long time. It is packed almost everyday. It served shanghai dishes. We ordered a cold dish, pork leg. I like the taste. It was flavorful and served with pickled.

I also like its deep fried mantou. Crispy outside, soft inside. I preferred to have this than rice.

They also have the Peking duck , to me it is just a roast duck wrapped with the pancake. The meat is tender however, it is not the authentic Peking duck.

Another dish for the night is the long bean, tauhu and meat. Tasted so so as I do not like to eat green.

Not long, we were served with soup, that was cooked with the duck bone and i guess they put some milk in it.i love the soup as it was boiled for quite a long time. It was tasty and the saltiness is just right. Another of my favourite dishes were dumpling; pan fried and steamed/boiled. The amount of meat were just right, and the wrappers were not too thick. I noticed that due to the higher cost of production, a lot of seller giving lesser meat, thus, the dumplings are tasteless. The last dish out is the sweet and sour fish. Not that nice though. Will not order that dish again.

Good Lunch at Restoran Puteri Hang Li Po

My Boss brought 6 of us to have a good meal at Restoran Puteri Hang Li Po. It served seafood, Chinese Muslim and Thai cuisine. We selected a set menu with 6 dishes that comes with a plate of fruits, unlimited supply of rice and Chinese tea.

Ambience : Pleasant
Food Taste : 8 / 10
Waiting Time :Moderate
Price : Moderate

We were given choices of dishes to be choose and the cost was at RM199.

The tom yam were spicy to me so I did not take it. However, my colleagues eaten up most of the seafood in it, so it must be quite delicious. We also selected chicken with cashew nuts. I love the tangy taste of this dish. the chicken were evenly coated with the sauce.

We picked Sabah veggie cooked with garlic as our vegetable dish. I love eating this. The vegetable were not too soggy nor hard and the gravy that cooked with it blended well with the veggie. Since this restaurant served seafood, we choose mainly seafood in our set. Next come the dried butter prawn. The medium size prawns were fresh and fried well with the egg floss. It was very yummy but a huge contribution to increase my cholesterol too.

Well, to me, fish is one of the important dish to be ordered when comes to seafood session. I just love to eat their nyonya style fish. I ordered it again this time and no complains about it. The sauce were tasted exotic combining, spicy, sour and other local flavours , very apetising. I guess, the fishes are quite small, thus, they gave us two. I just like this size perfectly, the meat were tender.

A colleague had ordered this special dish (which is also under the chef's recommendation), deep fried eggs with oyster. It seems to be very different compared to the normal eggs with oyster that I had eaten. This was very crunchy, even one colleague were saying it taste like banana fritters. However, the drawback of this dish was the oyster, they were slightly overcooked.

My SIL's mom made some Chinese pumpkin cake for us to eat. It was so delicious that I requested the recipe while munching it.
